I'm turning 45 next week, but I feel like I've been adopted by another family.
This is my FOURTH year celebrating Tristan's birthday with him; his wonderful, sweet, generous, and truly joyful parents; his grandparents; and his friends.
When I first met Tristan, it was at a family session at Valley Forge in the fall when he was about 18 months old. I then got the amazing honor of being asked to photograph his second birthday party at Songs for Seeds. That was followed by his third birthday party at Young Sports (if you've been following me for long, that's the one where his mom Facetimed the whole party from her hospital bed...you know, the one that made you bawl), and his fourth birthday party at Bounce U. I forget the numbers, these are BIG events...whole classes and grades are invited and there is always tons of chaos and fun.
This year was no exception on either front. Tristan's fifth birthday took him to Workhorse Brewing Company in King of Prussia. This gorgeous space included a party room out of a dream...all brightness and light and cheerfulness (plus...beer). But that wasn't all! The venue was just the stage for the most fun, interesting, and hands-down-most-over-the-top-cool party I've seen Carrie host yet...Science with Nature Jack!!! There were fountains of soda, there was steam pouring out of bowls, there were bubbles, there was slime, there were polymers, there were birds, there were...wait for it...giant cockroaches. There were 34 kids and 57 adults and I can't tell who had more fun.
I'll let the pictures speak for themselves, but know that I couldn't be adopted for the day every year by a more fantastic family and I absolutely can't wait to see what next month and little sister, Tenley's, birthday brings us!!!
