The only thing I love more than meeting a new family for the first time is meeting them for a second time...or a third time! I love my returning clients so much. It's one thing to book a photographer because you like his or her pictures of others. It's another to come back again and again because you like their pictures of YOU! I feel like an extended family member to my returning families and look forward to seeing them grow and change over the years. It's such an honor to witness and capture their journey through life together.
This is my third year taking family photos for the Ono Family! When I first met Sydna and Andy, they had just moved to the area and Elizabeth was just a baby. Now she's an independent two and a half year old and big sister to Michael, who just a baby at the time of last year's pictures and is now walking!
This year, we again chose Springton Manor Farm. It's truly one of my favorite places for sessions. There are so many options for backgrounds there and great choices for variety and good light. There's something really peaceful about it, even though there are always other people there. And horses and goats, though weirdly enough, I always forget about them.
And, as I've said before, I LOVE September sessions. I don't know what it is...the light just seems softer to me than in other months. Everything is still green, but it's also sort of goldeny? It's warm but not usually hot. Golden hour isn't super early, but it's not super late. It's just a great month. Did I mention that I still have an open weekend this month for a session? Who wants to get in on this magic?
I have a great time doing the wildlife photography that is toddler sessions. It's a lot of fast action, a lot of kid-wrangling, a lot of trying to get the shot before someone runs off. It is exhausting and definitely involves a post-session glass of wine, but it's also a ton of fun, full of personality, and challenging in that way that keeps me loving what I do. It's never the same, never dull, no session is ever like any other. I am so lucky that I am given the opportunity to do this as my job.
Thank you Andy, Sydna, Elizabeth, and Michael, for a wonderful, hilarious time! I couldn't ask for a better September tradition! Can't wait to see you guys again!
